The All-Star in Idaho

Friday, December 13, 2019
Ford Idaho Center
Boise, ID

With the crowd settled in place for this Supreme Championship Wrestling house show, the festivities are well underway. The crowd is abuzz with the company at the moment. After the Clarity pay per view promised a resolution among the World Championship scene, the end result was anything but clear, as Kellen Jeffries used his Trios wish – that which he earned back in January of the year, to declare the SCW World Championship up for grabs in the traditional end-of-year battle royal. The typical end of year SCW atmosphere had taken hold, and the air of “anything can happen” was evident by the crowd.

“Whoa Is Me” by Down With Webster hit the loudspeakers, and the crowd sprung to their feet with a mixed reaction, leaning heavily towards the boos.

Lost among the buzz around the World Championship was a significant piece of news, at least among the Gavin Taylor camp. After months of toil in SCW, Gavin had finally done something that many didn’t expect and fewer wanted to see: He defeated Asher Hayes and claimed the SCW Adrenaline Championship, his first title in the company.

As Gavin stepped out on top of the ramp, the Adrenaline Championship belt wrapped around his waist, he looked out over the crowd, a shit-eating grin on his face as he threw his fist into the air.

Phillips: “The following contest is scheduled for ONE-FALL and is for the SCW Adrenaline Championship!”

The crowd roars a bit, but Gavin’s eyes tell a different story. He turns around and steps back behind the curtain. After a few moments, his agent Ava St. Claire makes her way down the ramp to the ringside area. She approaches Phillips and whispers something in his ear. Gavin’s music fades.

Phillips: “Ladies and gentlemen, I have just been informed that due to a contractual error on the part of the challenger, tonight’s match will NOT be for the Adrenaline Championship.”

The crowd boos. “Whoa Is Me” by Down With Webster hits the loudspeakers again. Gavin Taylor confidently strides out on top of the ramp, the Adrenaline Championship still wrapped around his waist.

Phillips: “Introducing first, he is the SCW Adrenaline Champion… “The All-Star”… GAVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN TAAAAAAAAYLORRRRRRR!”

Satisfied with his introduction, Gavin makes his way down towards the ring.

Phillips: “His opponent, already in the ring and accompanied by Chlamydia… SAMUEL THOMAS DAVIES… S… T… D!”

The crowd continues booing, not for STD, the SCW stalwart who never really amounted to all that much, but for the arrogant superstar who just weeks ago stole the Adrenaline title from Asher Hayes. He makes his way towards the ring, not unclasping the belt from around his waist as he approaches. He moves around to the steps, walking up them one at a time deliberately, placing his hands on the middle ropes as he steps through. Once in the ring, he throws his arms out, a big smile on his face as he poses for the crowd, soaking up their adulation. The referee approaches Gavin about handing off his Championship belt, but Gavin waves him off. He wanted to keep his belt on. He moves back to his corner and converses with Ava briefly before leaning back against the turnbuckles, facing towards STD.

His opponent looks a bit dejected, but has his motivation building. He believes that Gavin twisted this match into non-title because he knows that he can’t be beat. With his head getting all full of steam, STD readies himself. He watches Gavin lounge casually and gets a fire in his belly! He’s ready for this…

The bell rings.

STD steps out of the corner, beginning to approach Gavin. Then, like a coiled snake, The All-Star lashes out, flattening his opponent with a vicious RMUL – Real Men Use Lariats! With the Adrenaline Championship still around his waist, Gavin bends over, pulling STD up by the head. He grapples around his waist, lifting him up onto his shoulder before stepping forward, completing the Canadian neckbreaker long-dubbed The Highlight of the Night! As STD bounces off the mat, rolling to his back, Gavin simply slides back, his shoulders laying across his opponent’s stomach as the referee counts…

ONE…

TWO…

THREE…!!!

Phillips: “Here is your winner… GAVIN TAYLOR!”

Gavin rests upon STD, dusting his hands off before pulling himself to his feet. He moves to the corner, asking Ava to hop onto the apron to check his pulse and examine his forehead for any stray beads of sweat – there are none. From there, Gavin moves to the corner and demands the microphone. While Phillips was hesitant, it was persuasion from Ava St. Claire that eventually goaded the only working microphone in Boise from his hands and over to Gavin’s. The All-Star slaps the microphone a few times, the boom from his hand hitting the foam resonating around the arena. The crowd boos, and a few begin to start a chant for Asher Hayes. Gavin laughs, shaking his head.

Gavin: “Asher isn’t here tonight.”

This brings a louder chorus of boos from the crowd.

Gavin: “Quite frankly, I think he’s the lucky one of the two of us right now. Yes, I beat him… I brutalized him at Clarity to become SCW Adrenaline Champion. He probably still has a headache from what I put him through. But more than that… he’s not here, and in a way, I kind of envy him because there are a million other places I would rather be tonight than Idaho.”

Oh no he didn’t! Actually, he totally did, and his insult brings an even louder chorus of boos from the crowd. How dare he insult their beloved Idaho. Gavin looks around incredulously… why were these people booing the truth?

Gavin: “No… you don’t get to boo me, you stupid potato people. The fact is that this company coming through here with me as your Adrenaline Champion is the best thing to have ever happened to this backwater, marry-your-cousin state!”

Another insult at the heart of Idaho. Gavin simply shrugs off their vitriolic response, walking around the ring as he smirks.

Gavin: “Why do you even live here?:

He laughs. They boo. It’s a budding relationship.

Gavin: “No-no, that’s not important. I couldn’t stand to listen to the bore of an Ida-ho’s explanation of why here over better states. California. Nevada. New York. Even Rhode Island, for fucks sake!”

Gavin shakes his head, trying to dispel the horrible thoughts towards the state.

Gavin: “But that’s not important… four words that define Idaho pretty well.”

He laughs – probably the only person in the arena doing so.

Gavin: “The fact of the matter is I am the SCW Adrenaline Champion! I accomplished this feat five months into my SCW career… and for that matter, not even five months! Five months is rounding up. It’s more like four-and-a-half months. Did the local Corn Maze Champion become Champion as quickly as I did? No! I, in my first title match, became a Champion in SCW! Of course, I don’t count the farce of a Television Title “match” I had where three jealous people came after me before the match started. Think of that… I could have been a Champion one week into my tenure! The people who cost me that… boo them!”

The crowd boos, but presumably not for them. Gavin looks around.

Gavin: “I know there are no cameras here tonight…”

Gavin climbs out of the ring, pointing to someone in the front row who’s been holding up a smartphone the whole time.

Gavin: “You filming this?”

The fan nods.

Gavin: “Going to throw this up on YouTube later?”

Again, a nod.

Gavin: “Good… because I want the world to hear this. See this belt? It has a new home, and unlike the past, this home is not for rent. This is a forever home, and I am a forever Champion! You had better get used to this image, because it’s going to be like this for a long… time… coming! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m finally getting out of Idaho!”

Gavin pushes away from the phone-wielding fan as his music plays again. Gavin drops to the mat, rolling from the ring before walking up the ramp, followed by Ava St. Claire. He moves behind the curtain as the scene fades.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

“You have never met an MF’er quite like me. See, I’ve heard the rumblings backstage from people that I’m all talk… that I don’t have what it takes to back up what I say with actual results. Asher Hayes thought he was going into a match at Clarity with someone he’d have to carry. He thought the All-Star was just another in a long line of braggarts and blowhards who have come and gone from this company over it’s sixteen-year history.

Well, Ash… WHO BLOWS NOW!?

I am your new Supreme Championship Wrestling Adrenaline Champion, coming exactly as advertised! Sure… you’re going to hear talk about what I “did” to get the belt. How I “broke the rules”. But look around the business, you hypocritical fucks. If you take an issue with what I did, you have to take an issue with every single person who ever blurred the lines to get where they want to be. Are you really ready to alienate every single person in this business just because you’re pissy about a supremely-talented worker getting his due? No! So shut your yap!

Max Kane? What’s that? What’s a Max Kane? Is it the most walking aid? Perhaps a top-tier masked burned dude? You see, I’m not worried about Max Kane at Breakdown. I’m not concerned about the fight he’s going to bring… and I know… I know he’s going to bring the fight to me. Why? Because he wants to prove his spot. He knows that he is facing someone who walked in to SCW and, in just four-and-a-half months, did accomplished something that he has never done in his SCW tenure. Being a Champion is what this industry is all about. Being a Champion means a bigger payday. It means more exposure. It means more fame. It means everything that Max Kane is supposedly about. I have it! I’m here! How does that feel, Max? Knowing that in all the time you’ve been here, you have yet to accomplish what took me four-and-a-half months

Breakdown tonight is going to be no different. I have established myself as a force to be reckoned with… I am the SCW Adrenaline Champion! When you look at the lineages here, Adrenaline above Television, I am the TOP GUY in SCW! Number one! The highest-rated male wrestler on the roster today! That doesn’t happen by accident! That happens by being GOOD! No… not just good. That happens by being GREAT! I am great! I am The All-Star… the Franchise Player… the Real-World Jedi… Wrestling’s Kwisatz Haderach… the MVP of Life… the OBSCENELY Naturally Talented… the History-Maker… and now, the Most Adrenalined Superstar in SCW…

I am Gavin Taylor. Get used to me… because I’m going to be on top for a long… LONG time!”
